#VisionToAction2030 was a high-impact, technical workshop designed to reshape how young leaders perceive and implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Moving beyond theoretical knowledge, the session aimed to bridge the gap between “having a vision” and “executing strategic action” by integrating global standards into local community service. Hosted at The King’s Ridge, Kandy, the event served as an intensive deep dive into Social Innovation and Program Design. The core objective was to move away from “charity-based” projects toward “transformative change,” ensuring that every club initiative is measurable, sustainable, and globally relevant. This was a collaborative powerhouse effort, bringing together the Rotaract Clubs of Kandy, Kandy Hill Capital, and Kandy Metropolitan. The Learning Experience The workshop, conducted by Mohamed Husni and Darshatha Gamage from IMPACT VOICES, was defined by its highly interactive, activity-based approach. The project’s central objective was to technical Capacity Building: Equip members with the tools to design programs that meet international development standards. SDG Integration: Move beyond surface-level mentions of SDGs to deep, target-driven integration in project reports and execution. Inter-Club Synergy: Foster a spirit of collaboration between the three Kandy-based clubs to tackle larger, regional issues together. Measurable Impact: Teach participants how to set KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to track the actual success of their social innovations. Programme Design and social innovation frameworks. Activity-Based Methodology A major part of the planning was designing the “SDG Audit” activity. We prepared data and summaries of past projects from all three clubs. The plan was to force members to look at their own work critically: Which specific SDG target did we hit? Was the impact measurable or just a one-day giveaway? This “hands-on” approach was mapped out to ensure members left with a practical blueprint for future project reports.
