On May 21st, 2026, the Rotaract Club of Kandy executed Project තිළිණ, a rapid-response welfare initiative dedicated to uplifting the students of Devahandia Kanishta Vidyalaya, Udadumbara. The initiative was named to reflect the spirit of gifting directly to the hands of the children. To live up to the project’s name, the club curated personalised gift packs for all 53 students in the school. The budget was strategically utilised to cover both educational and recreational needs: Rs. 25,000.00 was dedicated to purchasing essential educational supplies, equipping each student with a brand-new notebook and a complete pen set. 13,000.00 was allocated to purchase chocolates, adding a sweet touch of joy and celebration to every single package. When the project team arrived at the school, every student was personally handed their own pack. The project’s central objective was to provide Immediate Educational Relief: To equip all 53 students at Devahandia Kanishta Vidyalaya with essential learning materials, including notebooks and pen sets, to ease their daily classroom needs. Create Student Morale and Joy: To bring happiness and motivation to underprivileged rural children by pairing their educational supplies with a special treat of chocolates. Alleviate Financial Burdens: To support the local community by absorbing the cost of essential stationery for families facing financial and structural challenges. Sustain Community Connections: To build upon the institutional trust established during Project Flowing Hope by transitioning into personalised student welfare and care. Immediate Classroom Readiness: Equipped all 53 students with essential notebooks and pen sets, ensuring they had the necessary tools to participate in daily lessons right away. A Boost of Joy: Brought immediate happiness and excitement to the children through the unexpected inclusion of chocolates in their packages.
